Workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), backed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Monday staged a massive protest at the FCTA Secretariat and the National Industrial Court in Abuja.
The protest, according to First Daily correspondent, is part of an indefinite strike over unresolved labour disputes.
The demonstrators picketed the premises and confronted armed anti-riot police deployed at the main gate of the minister’s office, demanding the removal of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Tension escalated when protesters learned that the minister had reportedly exited the complex through a back gate.

Enraged workers immediately pursued his convoy in an attempt to intercept it, chanting “Ole! Ole!! Ole!!!” as they ran after the vehicles.
The protest followed a directive from the NLC, which threw its full weight behind the industrial action, describing the strike as justified amid what it called repeated violations of workers’ rights by the FCTA’s management and political leadership.
