The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a fresh warning to travellers, advising them not to carry any luggage they did not personally pack or whose contents they do not fully know.

This was shared in a post by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on his X handle on Sunday.

Babafemi cited a recent case in which a suspect was apprehended while attempting to smuggle drugs through an airport.

During questioning by NDLEA officials, the suspect confessed that the bag he was carrying was not his.

The agency emphasised that ignorance would not be accepted as an excuse and urged travellers to be vigilant and responsible with their belongings to avoid being used as unwitting drug couriers.

Babafemi said, “Please listen to the suspect in this video.” He was asked if he packed the bag he was carrying, and he said no, someone gave it to him.

“As we always warn, never accept to carry a luggage you don’t know its contents if you’re not complicit and an accessory because #ndlea_nigeria ‘ll get you”
