Late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, was posthumously honoured with the Best Street-Hop Artiste award for his hit single “Ask About Me” at the 17th edition Headies Awards on Sunday.
His wife and young son, Liam, accepted the award on his behalf, earning a heartfelt standing ovation from the audience.
In addition to his win, Mohbad’s music collaboration with Chike, “Egwu”, won the Headies viewers choice award as he also earned multiple posthumous nominations, including Best Collaboration for “Egwu” and Afrobeats Single of the Year for the same track.
These nominations and his posthumous recognition highlight the lasting impact of his music and the irreplaceable gap his loss has created in the industry.

First News correspondent reports that the ceremony included a heartfelt tribute, honouring Mohbad’s significant influence on the music industry and the legacy he created.
The former Marlian record signee reportedly died on Tuesday, 2023 at the age of 27.
