VIDEO: Nigerian Filmmaker Kayode Peters Buried in Canada

Renowned Nigerian filmmaker and television producer, Kayode Peters, has been laid to rest in Canada.

Peters was buried on Saturday, August 2, 2025, following a funeral service attended by close family members and friends.

A video circulating on social media on Sunday shows mourners at the interment as the late filmmaker’s body was lowered into the grave.

The service, held in a Christian tradition, was marked by tears and solemn hymns, including the popular “It Is Well,” which guests were heard singing through their grief.

The 49-year-old died on June 28 in Toronto after battling an undisclosed illness.

Peters was a celebrated actor, producer, and director known for his significant contributions to Nigerian television and theatre.

He began his artistic career with the University of Lagos-based Theatre 15 group before transitioning into television.

He gained widespread recognition for creating the popular sitcom Flatmates in 2004 and later served as the executive producer of its revival, My Flatmates.

He also worked on other successful productions, including Twilight Zone and Papa Ajasco and Company.
