A video has surfaced online on Wednesday, showing Delta-based content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, allegedly pleading with the parents of a 20-year-old girl for an out-of-court settlement after his arrest over allegations of rape.
The footage emerged days after the Delta State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the 40-year-old content creator in connection with the alleged sexual assault of the 20-year-old girl, who later died after reportedly ingesting a toxic substance.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the Command received a petition alleging that the deceased travelled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, following an invitation from the suspect, who had promised to train her in content creation through a programme advertised on his social media platforms.
Police said that upon arriving in Asaba, the suspect allegedly took the girl to a hotel, where he allegedly raped and physically assaulted her.
The victim reportedly returned home traumatised and informed her parents of the incident. Before her death, she recorded a video in which she recounted the alleged assault and the emotional distress she experienced afterward.
Edafe said the girl later ingested a toxic substance in an apparent suicide attempt and subsequently died despite efforts to save her.
Following the petition, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, directed the Area Commander in Effurun to immediately commence a thorough investigation into the allegations.

The police said the investigation led to the arrest of Ogbonna, who reportedly made useful statements while in custody.
“The Commissioner of Police directed the Area Command Effurun to carry out an immediate and thorough investigation into the allegations. Acting on the directive, operatives swiftly commenced investigation, leading to the arrest of Ifeanyi Ogbonna, also known as ‘Odogwu of Asaba.’ During preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly made useful statements to the Police, while further investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case,” Edafe stated.
The newly circulated video, which has generated widespread reactions on social media, allegedly shows the suspect appealing to the deceased girl’s parents for a settlement following his arrest. However, the authenticity of the video and the circumstances surrounding the conversation have not been independently verified by authorities.
The Delta State Police Command said investigations into the case are ongoing as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and the girl’s death.
