VIDEO: Wike, Military Officer Exchange Words Over Alleged Land Grabbing in Abuja

A heated confrontation erupted on Tuesday between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and an unidentified military officer over an alleged case of land grabbing at the Gaduwa District in Abuja.

A viral video obtained by First Daily correspondent shows the visibly enraged minister accusing the officer of unlawfully taking possession of a parcel of land purportedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.

In the footage, Wike can be heard questioning the officer’s authority to occupy the land, describing the action as an abuse of privilege.

“Because you are an officer? Nobody does that. The man took land because he was the Chief of Naval Staff?” Wike said, visibly angered.

The incident reportedly occurred during one of the minister’s unscheduled inspections of disputed land sites across the FCT, part of a wider effort to reclaim encroached government properties.

The confrontation has sparked widespread reactions, with some Nigerians commending Wike’s firmness against alleged land racketeering, while others called for a formal investigation into the ownership of the disputed plot.

As of press time, neither the FCT Administration nor the Nigerian military had issued an official statement on the altercation.
