Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, says the police have arraigned three members of the Oodua People’s Congress team that arrested suspected notorious kidnapper, Iskilu Wakili, in court.
Adams disclosed this while speaking at a meeting of Yoruba leaders in Ibadan on Wednesday.
He said Wakili, who has been accused of killing about 25 persons, was charged with bailable offences.
But he said with dismay that the three OPC members who alongside others risked their lives to arrest Wakili, were charged with more grievous offences of murder and arson.
Oyo State Coordinator of the OPC, Mr Rotimi Olumo, also confirmed that the three OPC members have been arraigned.
“They were arraigned and they have been clamped in prison,” he said.
Members of the OPC and some vigilantes had on March 7 captured Wakili who residents of Ibarapa have accused of killings, kidnappings, rape and other atrocities.
The residents raised alarm on many occasions, urging security agencies to arrest the Fulani ‘warlord’ and his foot soldiers, but nothing was done until the OPC operatives intervened and captured the suspect.
Wakili and two of his sons were arraigned on Tuesday in Ibadan and ordered to be remanded in prison custody .
