Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade says the team is still waiting to receive the $100,000 cash reward and other promises made by the Federal Government after their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade expressed disappointment over the unfulfilled commitments.
When asked if the money had been paid, she replied:
“We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid, all the promises, we have not received anything.”
Ajibade led the Falcons to a record-extending WAFCON title earlier this year, defeating Morocco on their home soil.

Following the victory, President Bola Tinubu hosted the team and their technical crew at the Presidential Villa, praising them for their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination and courage.”
During the reception, Tinubu announced national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) for each player, alongside a $100,000 reward and a three-bedroom apartment.
Months later, however, those promises remain unfulfilled, casting a shadow over what was a historic achievement for Nigerian women’s football.
