Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello has said that herdsmen have been neglected for so long in Nigeria and that attention must be paid to them for peace to reign in the country.
Bello spoke on Friday while addressing newsmen in Niger State on what his government was doing to ensure a safe return of the abducted Kagara Government Science College students and workers.
“Since independence, nobody has paid attention to herdsmen. Nobody paid attention, so they were moving from place to place but now the system had to stop… We have paid more attention to farmers and zero to herders.
“The herders also help the economy. The time has come to pay attention to them and that must be done for everlasting peace,” Governor Bello said.
On the kidnapped students, he said he had no update but that his government was employing both kinetic and non-kinetic methods to make sure the adducted students were freed at all cost.
