Why Buhari is Nigeria’s worst leader –Clark

Former Federal Commissioner for Information and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark, expressed strong criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that he believes Buhari is the worst leader Nigeria has ever had.

Clark accused Buhari of failing to consider the entire country as his constituency and accused him of marginalizing and humiliating the people of the Niger Delta region.

Clark’s comments came during a farewell press conference to Buhari at his Asokoro Residence, where he highlighted Buhari’s failure to fulfill his promise of being fair to all parts of the country, as stated during his inauguration in 2015.

Quoting Buhari’s statement, “Having just a few minutes ago sworn on a holy book, I intend to keep my oath and serve as President to all Nigerians. I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody,” Clark pointed out that the president’s actions have contradicted his words.

According to Clark, over the past eight years, Buhari has shown that he primarily serves the interests of his tribe and religion, rather than considering the well-being of the entire country, contrary to what he had promised in his inaugural speech.

“For instance, he appointed fourteen out of seventeen security Chiefs from one section of the country. So, the declaration that “he belongs to everybody and nobody”, was a sham. I make bold to say that the reverse has been the case, “he belongs to some people”, but not the entire Nigeria.

“Even in simple matters like extending the good wishes of the government to notable personalities in the country on their birthdays or other landmark attainments, the Muhammadu Buhari administration was selective and biased in who it chooses to recognise or consider worthy of goodwill messages,” he said.
