The Chairman of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, said on Monday that the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has been granted an administrative bail.
Bawa, however, said that Obiano is still in the EFCC custody because he has not been able to meet conditions for his bail.
The EFCC boss spoke at the 5th Annual General Assembly of the Network of National Anti-corruption Institutions in West Africa (NACIWA).
Bawa said, “Nothing political about the arrest of the former Anambra State Governor, Wille Obiano.
“He has been granted bail. But we await (when) he fulfills his bail conditions.”
FirstNews reported that EFCC arrested Obiano in Lagos after he handed over to Professor Chukwuma Soludo last Thursday while he was about boarding a plane to the United States.
The commission was said to have interrogated him over an alleged misappropriation of N42 billion belonging to Anambra State.
