Wike Reveals Advice To Adeleke After Osun Governorship Election

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he advised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to present his Certificate of Return to President Bola Tinubu following his victory in the state governorship election.

Wike made this known on Wednesday during a media parley with selected journalists.

The FCT minister also disclosed that he advised Adeleke to issue a public statement thanking President Tinubu after the election.

“I told Adeleke to call Mr President and go and present his certificate of return to him, I also told him to make a press statement thanking Mr President after the Osun election,” Wike said.

Adeleke emerged victorious in the Osun State governorship election after securing 511,067 votes, defeating the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

Following the election, Adeleke presented his Certificate of Return to President Tinubu and also to Wike.

Wike’s disclosure comes amid political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly following Adeleke’s recent endorsement of President Tinubu.

The Osun governor had declared that his support for Tinubu remained intact, insisting that he would not go back on his word after endorsing the President for the 2027 presidential election.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, has remained a prominent figure in the political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, despite belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while serving as a minister in the APC-led Federal Government.
