Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, has challenged Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s National Chairman, to prevent any party candidate from running in an election if he believes he has the authority to do so.
Governor Wike made this statement during a press conference at his home in Port Harcourt on Sunday in response to Senator Ayu’s recent statement that he has the authority to disqualify any contender, particularly one from Benue State.
Ayu was quoted as saying this to the throng in Gboko on Friday while speaking in his native Tiv dialect. He also reportedly stated that no one could remove him from his position.
But Wike feels that the remark does more harm than good to the PDP’s reputation at a time when it needs the public’s support to save Nigeria.
“I dare the national chairman of PDP to stop any contestant for the election. I dare Ayu to stop any PDP candidate from contesting the election. He doesn’t have the power,” Wike said.
Wike also reacted to criticisms made by Dele Mommodu and Osita Chidoka, two PDP members.
