Police in Rivers State have been urged to investigate the alleged rape and murder of a young woman in Obigbo, Port Harcourt, reportedly carried out by her neighbour.
The incident, which allegedly occurred on the night of Monday, November 3, 2025, was brought to public attention by a social media user identified as @RevolutionaryYouth, who described herself as an evangelist and family friend of the victim.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, November 5, she claimed the victim, identified as Ugochi, was raped and strangled to death in her room by a male neighbour who is now on the run.
She further alleged that the suspect had previously harassed the deceased and had entered her room uninvited on at least two occasions.
According to her, all tenants in the compound fled after the attack, leaving the victim’s orphaned siblings without support.
She stated that the case has been reported to the Obigbo Police Station, and the body has been deposited in a mortuary.

The evangelist appealed to the Rivers State Police Command to ensure justice is served, describing the situation as heartbreaking.
“We are ready to work with the police to uncover the truth. Please help us amplify this,” she wrote.
As of press time, the Rivers State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the alleged incident.
The social media post has since drawn widespread attention, with Nigerians tagging police authorities and human-rights groups to demand a thorough investigation and the arrest of the suspect.
