Yari Assures Nigerians APC Will Keep Campaign Promises

The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, has assured Nigerians that the ruling party will fulfil the promises it made during the 2023 presidential campaign as it seeks the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Yari gave the assurance on Sunday shortly after arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, from an overseas trip.

He was received at the airport by APC supporters, political associates and other well-wishers who gathered to welcome him following his appointment as Director-General of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.

Speaking with journalists, Yari said the APC remained committed to its promises to Nigerians, insisting that the party would stand by the commitments made during the 2023 election.

“I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promise we made during the campaign, we shall keep. Today we have seen him [Bola Ahmed Tinubu] as President, and by God’s grace he shall be the president come 2027,” Yari said.

The senator, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District, said the large turnout of supporters at the airport demonstrated their confidence in President Tinubu and the APC.

Addressing the gathering, Yari thanked the supporters for coming to welcome him and urged them to continue supporting the President and the ruling party.

“The crowd is here to pray for me and for the success of Mr President. Our party is synonymous with keeping our word. We pray that Almighty Allah will give him (the President) the wisdom to lead this country. We assure Nigerians that we shall fulfil all our campaign promises,” he said.

Yari also expressed confidence that the APC would retain power beyond Tinubu’s second term, calling on party members to work towards strengthening the party’s structures across the country.

“We pray that our party will continue to be the party to lead the country after President Tinubu’s second term,” he added.

His comments come as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections and begins positioning its campaign machinery to defend the Tinubu administration’s record and secure the President’s re-election.

The party formally announced Yari’s appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on Saturday as part of its preparations for the forthcoming election.

Yari brings extensive political and administrative experience to the campaign structure. He previously served as Governor of Zamfara State and later chaired the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, giving him experience in state administration, political mobilisation and coordination among governors.

As Director-General, Yari is expected to coordinate the APC’s presidential campaign activities, mobilise party structures and supporters across the country, and help communicate the administration’s policies, programmes and achievements to voters ahead of the 2027 election.

The APC is expected to commence broader campaign activities as the election approaches, with the party facing opposition from emerging political alliances and rival parties seeking to challenge Tinubu’s bid for a second term.

Yari’s assurance that the party will fulfil its campaign promises is likely to form part of the APC’s broader message to voters as it seeks to convince Nigerians to renew the President’s mandate in 2027.
