The Chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Dr Mamman Mohammed, has died.
He was reported to have passed away on Monday, October 13, at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu after a brief illness.
According to reports, the funeral prayer for the late SIEC Chairman is scheduled to take place today, Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Emir of Fika’s Palace in Potiskum.
Confirming his death, the Fika Emirate Council announced the passing of Dr Mohammed, who also held the traditional title of Shamaki Fika, through a post on its official Facebook page.

“Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi Raji’un. The death has occurred of Dr. Mamman Mohammed, (Shamakin Fika), Chairman Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).
“He died at Yobe State Teaching Hospital after an illness. May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah, Amin,” the post read.
Dr Mamman Mohammed was widely respected for his leadership and commitment to credible electoral processes in Yobe State.
His death has left a deep sense of loss within the state’s political and traditional circles.
