Your Potbelly Won’t Fit in Firefighting Gear, FFS Tells Recruits

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has advised applicants awaiting its recruitment shortlist to ensure they are physically and mentally prepared for the demands of firefighting.

The notice, posted Tuesday on X, comes as the nation anticipates the next phase of the highly competitive recruitment process.

The Service encouraged candidates to eat well, take care of their health, sleep well, exercise, and stay calm while awaiting the shortlist.

“Hunger is not part of the training syllabus,” the notice quipped, adding, “We need fit firefighters, not fainting champions. Your potbelly won’t fit inside bunker gear.”
