For Christmas, and New Year’s celebrations, the Federal Government has designated December 26 and 27, as well as January 2nd, 2023, as public holidays.
This was confirmed by the interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola, in a statement released on Friday and signed by Belgore Shuaib, the permanent secretary of the ministry.
The statement also stated that the public holidays would be used to honor Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day in that sequence.
Aregbesola asked Christians to celebrate by imitating Jesus and reflecting on his teachings.
He said, “We must imbibe the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on humility, service, compassion, patience, peace, and righteousness, that His birth signifies.
“This will be the best way to portray Christ and celebrate his birth.”
