The Kwara State Police Command has activated comprehensive security measures across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities to ensure the safety of lives and property.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
According to the statement titled “Yuletide Security Arrangements: Kwara Police Activate Comprehensive Statewide Deployment,” the Commissioner of Police, Mr Adekimi Ojo, said the move was part of proactive policing strategies aimed at sustaining public safety and boosting public confidence during the festive season.
Ojo said the deployment aligns with the nationwide Yuletide security arrangement of the Nigeria Police Force as directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
He explained that visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols and targeted operations have been intensified around places of worship, markets, motor parks, highways, recreational centres and other public spaces across the state.
The commissioner added that tactical and specialised units have been placed on heightened alert, with sustained surveillance and raids ongoing in identified blackspots and flashpoints.
