Zainab Galadima: Tinubu Risks Losing 70% of Northern Votes in 2027

Zainab Galadima, daughter of prominent New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) figure Buba Galadima, has expressed doubts over President Bola Tinubu’s chances in the North during the 2027 presidential race.

During an appearance on the Mic On podcast hosted by Channels Television’s Seun Okinbaloye, Zainab said the North’s sentiment towards Tinubu remains largely negative.

“Honestly, I don’t have good reviews (from northerners about Tinubu). It’s really bad. Tinubu may get, maybe, 30 percent or less,” she said.

She suggested that Tinubu’s re-election bid may face a tougher road than his 2023 campaign.

“It’s going to be worse than the 2023 elections. The chances of Tinubu winning the 2027 election is going to be the toughest battle that he will ever see,” she added.

“It’s going to be the toughest because this coalition, as much as I don’t understand what they are doing, but anybody that sees them knows that we need to sit up.”

Recall that Zainab previously worked as a technical assistant on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the vice-president’s office during President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term.

Her father, Buba Galadima, also commented on the emerging coalition of political heavyweights positioning themselves as a united front ahead of the 2027 election.

He described the alliance as a step forward for democratic progress and called for national support.

The coalition recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform and introduced a new leadership team. Its goal is to present a serious challenge to Tinubu in the next general election.

Among those involved in the alliance are former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai.
