The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Zamfara State Command, has announced a six per cent drop in road accidents compared to the figures recorded last year.
Sector Commander Aliyu Ma’aji revealed this on Monday, the 20th of October, 2025, at the launch of the 2025 Ember Months Campaign in Gusau.
He stated that the command documented 46 road crashes in 2025, compared to 56 in 2024, representing a 6.27 per cent decrease.
Ma’aji explained that 51 deaths and 259 injuries were recorded in the 2024 incidents, noting that many of the casualties resulted from mixed loading by truck drivers who combine goods, animals, and passengers in transit.
While delivering the message of Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, Ma’aji said the campaign theme for 2025, “Take Responsibility for Your Safety: Stop Distracted Driving,” stresses the importance of avoiding unsafe driving habits.

He identified human factors such as driver fatigue, overloading, and unsafe transportation practices as persistent causes of crashes across Zamfara.
“The campaign aims to address traffic violations and improve road discipline among motorists as we approach the end of the year,” Ma’aji said.
He further mentioned that the command had introduced new enforcement measures to ensure safer roads throughout the festive period.
