Zamfara Gov Rules Out Negotiations With Bandits, Vows Sustained Military Offensive

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has ruled out negotiations with bandits, insisting that his administration will continue military operations against armed groups until they surrender or are brought to justice.

The governor’s position was conveyed by his Chief of Staff, Mukhtar Musa, during the inauguration of the secretariat of the Association of Zamfara State Indigenes Residing in Kaduna on Sunday, July 5.

The event also included the distribution of food items to vulnerable members of the association in Kaduna.

Musa said the state government remains focused on tackling insecurity through close collaboration with security agencies operating across Zamfara.

According to him, the administration will continue to provide operational support, including logistics, equipment and ammunition, to security personnel engaged in the fight against criminal groups.

“The governor will never negotiate with bandits. Those willing to surrender should do so or face the law,” Musa said.

He added that the government would sustain its offensive against bandits until peace is fully restored across the state.

Musa also stressed the importance of intelligence from residents, describing it as a vital tool in the fight against insecurity.

He urged citizens to promptly report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies to enable swift action.

The Chief of Staff assured members of the association that Governor Lawal remains committed to improving security and delivering development across Zamfara State.
