A 32-year-old man, identified as Anthony Williams from Peterborough, has been charged with ten counts of attempted murder following a mass stabbing on a London-bound train.

Williams appeared before Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 3, where he was formally charged and remanded in custody pending further proceedings.

The attack occurred on Saturday, November 1, 2025, aboard a service travelling from Doncaster to London King’s Cross.

Police said Williams boarded at Peterborough and began attacking passengers shortly after the train departed.

The service made an emergency stop at Huntingdon station in Cambridgeshire, where officers arrested the suspect.

Eleven people were injured in the assault, including a train-crew member who was seriously wounded while trying to restrain the attacker.

The crew member remains hospitalised in critical but stable condition.

British Transport Police confirmed that Williams faces an additional charge of attempted murder and one count of possessing a bladed article linked to a separate incident earlier that day at Pontoon Dock DLR station in east London.

Authorities said the investigation does not indicate a terrorism motive.

Rail officials have praised the swift action of emergency responders and train staff, whose efforts helped protect passengers and contain the situation.
