The Kebbi State Government has approved ā¦650 million for the procurement and installation of a 15MVA power transformer, in a major intervention aimed at improving electricity supply and reducing persistent power outages across the state.
The approval was granted by Governor Nasir Idris, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, disclosed on Friday while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
Tafida said the intervention underscores the governorās commitment to easing the hardship residents face due to unreliable power supply.
āI am pleased to inform you that His Excellency, Governor Nasir Idris, has approved the sum of ā¦650 million for the procurement and installation of a 15MVA power transformer to improve electricity supply in Kebbi State,ā Tafida stated.
He explained that the decision is part of the state governmentās resolve to improve the quality of life for residents by addressing critical infrastructure challenges.
Although electricity distribution is formally the responsibility of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), Tafida said the state government deemed it necessary to intervene to reduce residentsā suffering caused by frequent power outages.

The SSG further revealed that the state government provides ā¦150 million monthly financial support to KAEDCO to strengthen service delivery and ensure a more stable and sustainable electricity supply across Kebbi.
Tafida urged residents to support the governmentās efforts by promptly paying their electricity bills, stressing that improved revenue collection would help sustain the enhanced power supply.
āThis cooperation is crucial to maintaining the gains we are working hard to achieve in the power sector,ā he added.
