2027: Jonathan Will Contest Presidency on PDP Ticket — Jerry Gana

Former Minister of Information and Orientation, Professor Jerry Gana, has declared that former President Goodluck Jonathan will run in the 2027 presidential election under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Gana expressed confidence that Jonathan, if given the ticket, would defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reclaim the presidency a decade after leaving office.

Jonathan, who lost to Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015, ended the PDP’s 16-year grip on power. Since then, the opposition party has battled internal crises while attempting to rebuild its strength.

Speaking with reporters after the PDP Congress in Minna, Niger State, over the weekend, Gana said Nigerians were now calling for Jonathan’s return after experiencing subsequent administrations.

“In 2015, former President Goodluck Jonathan said his ambition was not worth the blood of Nigerians. After him, another President ruled for eight years, and now another has ruled for two years,” Gana remarked.

“Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear. Nigerians are now asking us to bring back our friend, former President Goodluck Jonathan,” he added.

Gana concluded by insisting that Jonathan would be on the ballot.

“I can confirm that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the presidential election in 2027 as PDP candidate, and we should be prepared to vote for him to return as President again.”
