The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted reconciliation committees as part of efforts to strengthen internal unity and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
The committees were inaugurated on Thursday by the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, who announced Professor Pat Utomi as chairman of the committee, with Buba Galadima serving as co-chairman.
Addressing members during the inauguration, Cleopas urged the committee to carry out its responsibility with fairness, impartiality, integrity and strict adherence to the party’s constitution.
He encouraged the members to engage stakeholders across the party, patiently hear grievances, promote genuine reconciliation and make courageous recommendations where necessary, while ensuring that justice and the overall interest of the party remain the guiding principles of their work.

“Your assignment is not merely to settle disputes; it is to rebuild confidence, restore trust, strengthen unity, and reassure every member that the NDC remains one united family where justice, fairness, equity, and inclusion shall continue to prevail.
I wish to assure every aspirant that the party deeply appreciates the sacrifices, commitment, resources, and energy invested by all those who offer themselves of service.
The fact that only one candidate emerged in each position, does not diminish the leadership capacity or political value of others.
“Indeed, many of those who did not secure nominations remain invaluable assets whose contributions will be indispensable as we take the campaigns ahead, and by the grace of God, form government in 2027.
“Our campaign must therefore be inclusive. Every committed member must have a role to play. Every stakeholder must feel a sense of belonging. Every grievance, honestly expressed, deserves a listening ear.
I therefore call upon all aspirants, party leaders, stakeholders, supporters, and members across the federation to cooperate fully with this committee,” he said.
