2027: NDC Warns, ‘We Won’t Tolerate Violence Against Obi, Our Supporters’

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned against any attempt to perpetrate violence against supporters of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party issued the warning on Wednesday in a statement posted on its official Facebook page, following Obi’s signing of the National Peace Accord for the 2027 presidential election.

The NDC said it remained committed to peace but would not tolerate or accept any form of violence directed at Obi’s supporters during the electioneering period.

“Our Presidential Candidate, H.E. Peter Obi, CON, has signed the National Peace Accord for the 2027 Election,” the party stated.

It added: “We are committed to peace, but we will not tolerate or accept any form of violence against our supporters.

“Those planning to perpetrate violence against us should be warned.”

The warning comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with political parties and their candidates expected to intensify campaigns and mobilisation across the country.

The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful electoral process while cautioning those who may seek to use violence or intimidation against its supporters.

The party’s statement followed Obi’s participation in the signing of the National Peace Accord, which commits presidential candidates to peaceful campaigns and conduct ahead of the election.
