Former Big Brother Naija housemate Sheggz has spoken publicly for the first time about his breakup with fellow reality star Bella Okagbue, denying allegations that he cheated on her.
Sheggz, in a statement shared on his X account in the early hours of Wednesday, said he had previously avoided speaking publicly out of respect for his family but decided to clarify his position after his name and character came under scrutiny.
The reality star described himself as a man who values family, friendship, integrity and his faith, while firmly denying allegations of abuse.
“I am not an abuser,” he said.
Sheggz also denied cheating on Bella, stating that he had been single since January 2026.
“For clarity, I did not cheat on Bella and I have been single since January 2026,” he wrote.
According to him, much of 2025 was a difficult period as he spent considerable time in and out of hospital.
He said he was grateful to have survived the health challenges and returned to Nigeria in October 2025 after undergoing treatment and recovering in England.
Sheggz said it was after his return that he became aware of information that made him question the level of honesty in his relationship with Bella.
He said he had given several opportunities since 2024 for the truth to be disclosed but eventually became concerned about issues of trust and how the situation was handled.
The former housemate said the development was particularly difficult because he had loved Bella deeply and genuinely hoped they would spend their lives together.
“I even went as far as purchasing a ring because I believed in the possibility of a future together,” he said.
Sheggz disclosed that the relationship officially ended in January 2026, although the pair made attempts to reconcile afterwards.
However, he said he eventually concluded that issues surrounding trust and respect were too significant to overlook, particularly when considering marriage.
“I believe a marriage should be built on mutual respect, honesty and the ability to communicate with one another properly,” he stated.
Sheggz said he genuinely wanted the relationship to work and had made sincere efforts to preserve it.
He acknowledged that Bella’s family might have their own perspective on the circumstances surrounding the breakup, adding that he respected their feelings.
The reality star, however, said he had no intention of engaging in a public dispute or trading accusations with his former partner.
“I have no desire for hostility or public back-and-forth,” he said.
Sheggz instead expressed a desire to move forward peacefully and wished Bella well in her future.
“I wish Bella nothing but the best in life and I hope we can all eventually move on with grace,” he added.
Sheggz and Bella became one of the most talked-about couples associated with the Big Brother Naija franchise after their relationship began during the reality show.
Their subsequent relationship continued to attract significant public attention, with fans closely following their relationship after leaving the show.
