2027: Omo-Agege Cannot Be Trusted, His Defection Poses No Threat — Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has downplayed the exit of former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, from the All Progressives Congress, saying the politician’s departure was anticipated and poses no threat to the party.

Omo-Agege recently left the APC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) after failing to secure victory at the party’s senatorial primary election.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, June 2, Oborevwori said the former senator’s actions before the primaries suggested he had already decided to leave the party.

“We were aware of his exit, and that was why he was not serious in the context of the primaries, because he never consulted anybody, he never consulted me, he never called leaders,” he said.

The governor insisted that Omo-Agege’s exit would not weaken the APC in Delta State, maintaining that the ruling party remains strong despite defections.

“His departure is not a threat to us because APC is a big party.”

Oborevwori also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the president as a priority for him politically and declaring that Delta State stands firmly behind the administration.

“President Bola Tinubu is my biggest project and we in Delta are solidly behind him. Delta people were deceived earlier but not anymore.”

The governor expressed confidence that voters in the state would back Tinubu in future elections.

“I can tell you categorically that no Delta person will vote against Tinubu. So we are not bothered about anybody leaving our party,” he said.
