The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has pushed back against what it described as persistent misinformation surrounding its General Overseer, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, rejecting claims that he campaigned for any government, stopped a planned protest, or deliberately remained silent on Nigeria’s challenges.
In a statement released on Tuesday, June 2, through its official Public Relations X handle, the church accused unnamed individuals and commentators of spreading false narratives and misleading interpretations about Pastor Adeboye and the church.
“The lies have gone on long enough. It stops now!!!” the statement declared.
RCCG said Pastor Adeboye and the church had repeatedly faced what it described as deliberate distortions driven by personal interests and agenda setting.
“For far too long, Pastor E.A. Adeboye and The Redeemed Christian Church of God have been subjected to false narratives, deliberate misrepresentations, and misleading commentaries driven by personal interests and agenda setting,” the statement said.
The church insisted it would no longer remain silent while misinformation circulates unchecked.
“Let it be clearly stated: Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and neither will the Church remain silent while inaccurate narratives are repeatedly circulated as facts.”
RCCG urged the public to rely only on its recognised communication channels when seeking clarification on issues involving the church or its leader.
“The Redeemed Christian Church of God has designated channels and authorized representatives responsible for communicating official positions on behalf of the Church.
“Therefore, before accepting, sharing, or amplifying any claim concerning Pastor E.A. Adeboye or The RCCG, verify it through our official public relations platform, @rccg_pr.”
The church specifically rejected allegations that Pastor Adeboye campaigned for any government in power.
“Claim, Pastor Adeboye Campaigned for the Government in power. Verdict, FALSE,” the statement said.

It explained that Pastor Adeboye had consistently encouraged members to obtain Permanent Voter Cards and vote according to personal conviction without endorsing political parties.
“Pastor E.A. Adeboye has always encouraged members of The Redeemed Christian Church of God to get their PVC’s and vote for anyone of their choice. He has always maintained a neutral stance on Political parties as members of the Church are members of various Political Parties.”
RCCG also dismissed reports suggesting Pastor Adeboye halted a planned protest.
“Claim, Pastor Adeboye called off a planned protest. Verdict, FALSE,” the church said.
According to RCCG, the cleric merely communicated instructions issued by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria regarding the conclusion of a three-day prayer programme.
“Pastor E.A. Adeboye only communicated the instruction of the Pentecostal Fellowship in Nigeria to members of the RCCG on the updated plan to have the grand finale of the Three Day Prayer Program in a centralized venue and hold a rally around the venue. This was communicated by PFN to all churches under PFN in Nigeria.”
The church further rejected suggestions that Pastor Adeboye had stayed silent on national matters.
“Claim, Pastor Adeboye intentionally keeps quiet on the happenings in Nigeria. Verdict, FALSE.”
It maintained that the cleric had addressed issues including insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance, and leadership, though through moral guidance and prayer rather than partisan political engagement.
“Pastor E.A. Adeboye has, on several occasions, spoken about national issues such as insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance, and the need for righteous leadership.
“However, he often chooses the language of moral guidance, prayer, and counsel rather than partisan political confrontation.”
RCCG also cautioned bloggers, media organisations, commentators and content creators against publishing unverified information, insisting that claims concerning Pastor Adeboye or the church should be fact-checked through its official communication channels before publication.
