Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has said the state and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) would support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing what he described as practical gains from working with the Federal Government.
The governor made the declaration while addressing members of the City Boy Movement in Anambra, explaining that his political choices are shaped by the interests of Ndi Anambra and the wider South-East rather than sentiment.
According to Soludo, politics should produce measurable outcomes, adding that he prefers decisions based on results and evidence.
“You don’t take second position in politics. I don’t play that kind of politics. The Politics I want to play is for the interest of Ndi Anambra, and the Igbo. I only play politics of evidence,” he said.
Soludo pointed to the Federal Government’s approval of Anambra’s proposed aerotropolis as a Free Economic Trade Zone as an example of what cooperation with the current administration has delivered to the state.

He described the approval process as unusually swift, saying it reflected a willingness by the Federal Government to support development initiatives in Anambra.
“The President in a fastest approval I have ever seen, he designated our aero metropolis as a free economic trade zone. That’s politics,” Soludo said.
The governor noted that although APGA remains independent of the ruling party, the party shares progressive principles and should collaborate with like-minded political actors to promote development in the South-East.
“Despite the fact that we are in APGA, we understand it that progressives have to work together for the good of Igbo,” he added.
Soludo maintained that partnerships among progressive political forces are necessary to advance economic growth, deepen regional development, and protect the interests of the Igbo people.
