Troops Arrest Two Suspects, Recover Ammunition In Plateau

Troops of Sector 6 of Operation Safe Peace have arrested two suspects and recovered ammunition during a stop-and-search operation in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to an X post shared by a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagagola Magama on Wednesday, the suspects identified as Patience John, 28, and Shamsu Ibrahim, 29, were apprehended on Tuesday at the Zawan area while travelling in a commercial vehicle.

It was gathered that troops conducting routine stop-and-search duties discovered two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and a rubber item reportedly associated with illicit drug abuse concealed in the suspects’ bag.

The suspects were immediately taken into custody for further investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the possession of the ammunition and other recovered items.

The military noted that investigations are ongoing and that further action would be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry
