2027 UTME: JAMB Vows Strict Screening Of CBT Centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stepped up preparations for the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), insisting that only Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres that meet its prescribed standards will be accredited.

The Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, reaffirmed the position on Thursday, November 5, 2026, during a meeting with the leadership of the Chief External Examiners to assess their readiness for the nationwide accreditation exercise.

Discussions centred on inspection arrangements, coordination among examination officials, timely submission of assessment reports and accurate identification of CBT centre locations.

JAMB maintained that facilities must demonstrate adequate technical infrastructure and operational capacity to qualify, ruling out those that fall short of its requirements.

The renewed emphasis on compliance follows the Board’s delisting of 23 CBT centres after technical failures disrupted the April 2026 mock UTME.

The Board said early assessments and strict enforcement of accreditation standards were necessary to prevent avoidable examination disruptions, protect candidates and safeguard the credibility of the 2027 UTME.
