Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has hinted at plans to build what he described as the “largest rainbow coalition” in support of President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027.
Wike spoke with journalists in Abuja on Friday, August 21, while discussing the recent visit of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to his residence.
The FCT minister claimed that Adeleke had now aligned himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and argued that opposition parties would struggle to mount a serious challenge to Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Wike described the 2027 contest as already a “walkover”, suggesting that there was little the opposition could do to prevent Tinubu’s re-election.

“In the next few weeks, watch what is going to happen. You will see the largest rainbow coalition supporting President Tinubu,” he said.
Adeleke was re-elected as Osun State governor last week following a closely contested governorship election. The governor has also expressed support for President Tinubu.
Adeleke and his nephew, Afrobeat singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, visited Wike in Abuja on Thursday after the governor collected his Certificate of Return.
The visit has added to political speculation ahead of the 2027 general election, with politicians and political groups increasingly positioning themselves ahead of the presidential contest.
