In a bold move to combat youth unemployment, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday officially launched the Imole Youth Corps, engaging 10,000 youths across the state’s 332 wards.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Freedom Park in Osogbo, marked a significant milestone in the governor’s efforts to provide job opportunities for young people.
Addressing attendees, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to reducing unemployment, revealing that over 250,000 jobs have been created in Osun over the past two years.
“This program is a major highlight of our government’s strategy to tackle youth joblessness,” Adeleke said. “Through the Imole Youth Corps, we are creating direct employment while also engaging youths across various sectors, including health, security, environment, and education.”
The governor urged the newly recruited corps members to be diligent and committed in their respective assignments, emphasizing that their contributions would play a vital role in Osun’s development.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Moshood Olagunju, congratulated the corps members and encouraged them to be good ambassadors of the initiative.

He expressed confidence that the program would serve as a model for youth engagement across Nigeria.
As part of broader measures to curb unemployment, Governor Adeleke also announced that his administration had allocated over N1 billion as a revolving loan to support small businesses in the state.
With the launch of the Imole Youth Corps, Osun State takes a major step forward in its commitment to empowering young people and fostering economic growth.
