The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has successfully secured the conviction of a 66-year-old man found guilty of human trafficking in Yobe State.
Breaking the news on its verified Facebook page on the 8th of February, 2025, the anti-human trafficking agency stated:
“The Yobe State Command has secured a conviction in the case of FRN vs. Ibrahim Musa. The defendant, Ibrahim Musa (66, male), was arraigned before the State High Court II, Damaturu, presided over by Hon. Justice Lawu Lawan.”
According to NAPTIP, the convict was found guilty of procuring and exploiting a 14-year-old female victim. His actions were deemed a direct violation of Sections 13 and 16(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015 (as amended), which prescribes strict punishment for such crimes.

Recall that Musa was first arraigned on the 12th of January, 2023, and after a long legal battle, he was convicted on the 6th of January , 2025.
He has now been sentenced to five years in prison, marking a significant victory in the fight against human trafficking in Nigeria.
