The quiet serenity of dawn prayers in Gudaba village, Kuje Area Council, was shattered when 52-year-old Salihu Byezhe collapsed mid-worship on the 6th of March, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, the tragic incident unfolded just hours after Byezhe had observed Sahur, performed his ablution, and joined fellow worshippers for the Subhi (early morning) prayer.
Musa Dantani, a resident who witnessed the moment, described the distressing scene:
“Prayers were ongoing when he suddenly slumped. Some worshippers rushed to support him and quickly transported him to the hospital. He was still breathing on the way, but sadly, he didn’t make it.”
At the hospital in Kuje, medical personnel confirmed Byezhe’s passing, citing high blood pressure as the likely cause.

Reports later revealed that he had been managing the condition for some time, and the early morning prayers might have triggered a fatal spike.
Among those who rushed him to the hospital was his son, who stood by as doctors made the heartbreaking pronouncement.
Byezhe was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites at precisely 10:12 a.m. on Thursday, leaving behind a grieving family and a community shaken by his sudden departure.
