Supporters of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have launched a nationwide campaign urging Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Under the banner of the Obidient Movement, the initiative, themed A New Nigeria is Possible: Get Your PVC and GO MERD, was unveiled on Thursday through a statement from the group’s communication directorate.
“In response to the urgent national clamour for the rescue of our beloved nation and the birth of a New Nigeria, the Obidient Movement is excited to announce the launch of a new campaign, ‘A New Nigeria is Possible – Get Your PVC and GO MERD,’” the statement read.
GO MERD, meaning Get Organised – Make Election Rigging Difficult, reflects the group’s strategy to form organised voting blocs in every polling unit.
“It is our plan to mobilise millions of Nigerians into organised voting blocs, ensure that every eligible citizen has a Permanent Voter’s Card, and protect the integrity of the 2027 elections,” the group stated.

The movement said each bloc would have at least 100 voters, aiming for 100% PVC ownership.
Plans include door-to-door outreach, aiding voter registration, recruiting 1,500 value-driven candidates, and deploying one million trained vote protectors to safeguard the polls through technology and real-time reporting.
Describing its vision, the statement noted, “As Obidients, we believe that a new Nigeria is one where food is affordable, communities are secure, healthcare works, education equips our young people for the future… and the diaspora can return home with pride.”
It urged Nigerians to get their PVCs or help others do so, join voting blocs via Obidients.com, and volunteer as vote defenders, stressing,
“We can save Nigeria. We can make election rigging difficult. And together, we can prove that a new Nigeria is possible.”
