Lagos Taskforce Arrests 32 Suspects, Seizes Hard Drugs in Ikeja Cleanup Operation

The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce has intensified its cleanup enforcement campaign aimed at flushing out criminal elements from the state, with its latest operation leading to the arrest of 32 suspects in Ikeja.

The midnight raid, which commenced at about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, covered several hotspots in Agidingbi and Ikeja GRA. Areas visited included Alausa Central Business District (CBD), NERDC Road, Alhaja Ashabi Cole Street, the frontage of the African Shrine in Agidingbi, Adekunle Fajuyi Way, Shobo Arobiodu, Isaac John Street, Oba Akinjobi Road, and adjoining streets.

According to the Taskforce, the suspects, 25 males and seven females, were found in possession of illicit substances, including Indian hemp, codeine, and other narcotics.

Authorities said the operation restored sanity to the affected areas, which had become notorious for the presence of criminal elements.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter), noting that all the arrested suspects will be charged to court in accordance with the law.

The operation is part of an ongoing statewide crackdown designed to safeguard public spaces, deter illegal activities, and improve security across Lagos.
