The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended 116 suspects in a large-scale operation targeting drug-related crimes across Abuja.
Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Thursday, noting that the suspects were rounded up during coordinated raids in black spots across Asokoro, Trademore, Mapape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi.
According to Adeh, officers recovered several exhibits, including different illicit substances, hard drugs, and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

She further disclosed that after thorough screening, 89 suspects were released, while others were charged to court on various counts including public nuisance and possession of illicit drugs.
The FCT Command said the operation forms part of its renewed efforts to rid the capital city of criminal elements and drug activities.
