Court Halts INEC from Listing Mark, Aregbesola as ADC Leaders

A Federal High Court in Abuja has stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as interim leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The order, granted by Justice Emeka Nwite, came after an ex parte motion filed on September 2, 2025, by Nafiu Gombe.

In the suit, the ADC was listed as the first defendant, David Mark as the second, and Aregbesola as the third. INEC and the party’s former national chairman, Ralph Nwosu, were also joined as the fourth and fifth defendants.

Justice Nwite’s interim injunction restrains INEC from acknowledging Mark as the ADC’s interim national chairman or Aregbesola as interim national secretary.

It also bars the electoral body from dealing with their representatives until the substantive motion is heard.

The ruling followed INEC’s recent move to update its official website, where Mark and Aregbesola had been recognised in the leadership roles.

That recognition is now on hold pending further proceedings.
