Plateau Assembly Member Laven Denty Jacob Abducted by Gunmen

Gunmen have abducted Hon. Laven Denty Jacob, the lawmaker representing Pankshin South constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly.

The incident occurred on Monday night at his residence in Angwan Kagji, located in the Dong community of Jos North Local Government Area.

According to a close aide who previously worked with the lawmaker during his tenure as vice chairman of Pankshin Local Government under the Simon Lalong administration, Jacob was kidnapped at about 7:30 p.m. The aide explained that three masked men seized him at the entrance of his gate while he waited for his security guard to open it.

Efforts to reach Hon. Kwarpo Sylvanus, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, proved unsuccessful as calls went unanswered. However, sources confirmed that the matter has been reported to security agencies, though no official statement has yet been issued.

The abduction has heightened concerns about the rising spate of insecurity in Plateau State, where communities have repeatedly been targeted by criminal groups in recent months.
