Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged Lagos residents to stop harassing or assaulting government enforcement officers, noting that disputes should be resolved through official complaint channels.
The governor’s message came during the 2025 Stakeholders’ Engagement on Physical Planning, with the theme “Planning Permit: The Rebirth,” hosted by the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA).
Speaking through his Deputy Chief of Staff, Sam Egube, Sanwo-Olu stressed that physical planning officers operate within the law and should be treated with dignity.
“Residents are warned against verbal or physical attacks on officials. Aggrieved members of the public should channel complaints through established government platforms. Civility, dialogue, and adherence to due process are the hallmarks of a functional society that seeks sustainable development,” he stated.

He also reassured the public of his government’s dedication to accountability, fairness, and the safety of both residents and enforcement agents while pursuing a stronger and better-coordinated Lagos.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Olumide Oluyinka, also addressed participants, restating the government’s determination to protect people and their property.
“Despite the frequent challenges faced by LASPPPA officials during enforcement, the government will not relent in ensuring that no physical development takes place in the state without the required approvals,” he emphasised.
