Troops of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested two suspected fake policemen transporting cannabis in Taraba State.
The arrest, according to a statement by Lt. Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, was made on Wednesday at Takum Junction in Wukari Local Government Area.
“Acting on credible intelligence, troops alongside NDLEA personnel intercepted and apprehended two fake policemen at Takum Junction.
The suspects, who were dressed in mobile police uniforms, were found with two Toyota Hilux vehicles loaded with substances suspected to be cannabis,” the statement said.
Muhammad added that preliminary investigations confirmed the suspects were not serving police officers. The cannabis-laden vehicles were traced to Akure, Ondo State, and were bound for Adamawa before the interception.

He further disclosed that while one of the Hilux vehicles was successfully intercepted, the occupants of the second abandoned their vehicle and fled on sighting the troops. A total of 1,134 blocks of cannabis were recovered from both vehicles.
The suspects and exhibits have since been handed over to the NDLEA office in Wukari for further investigation and prosecution.
Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, commended the troops and NDLEA operatives for their synergy, stressing that the Brigade would not relent in ensuring Taraba remains unsafe for criminal activities. He also urged residents to provide credible information to support security operations across the state.
