Salihu Lukman, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has urged former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, along with other political leaders, to avoid plunging the party into deeper crisis through their struggle for control of its structures in Kaduna.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, October 1, Lukman expressed concern that the ADC could collapse if internal wrangling over who controls the party persists as the 2027 elections draw nearer.
His warning follows the growing controversy surrounding attempts to remove former Senate President, David Mark, from his position as national chairman of the party.

“Instead of working to build the party, we are setting ourselves to produce a party whose business will be limited to presenting candidates for elections.
“People with ambition to contest elections have become restless and want to dominate the process of developing the structures of the party to the exclusion of their opponents,” Lukman said.
The former Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress pointed out that the same power tussle that fuelled the bid to oust David Mark at the national level was now playing out in Kaduna.
He warned that unless party leaders put aside personal ambitions, the ADC risks weakening itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
