APC Group Mocks Bala Mohammed Over PDP’s 2027 Comeback Boast

The All Progressives Congress Media Network (APCMN), a media and communications platform within the ruling All Progressives Congress, has criticised Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, over his recent remarks expressing confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would reclaim power at the federal level in 2027.

Governor Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, had declared that despite the wave of defections rocking the opposition party, including the exit of some sitting governors, the PDP would return to Aso Rock in 2027.

Reacting in a statement issued on Sunday in Uyo, the Director-General of the APC Media Network, Iniobong John, described the governor’s statement as “laughable” and an indication that he has lost touch with political realities within his party.

“The APC Media Network finds this claim not only laughable but also a clear indication that the governor is out of touch with the political realities within his collapsing party,” John said.

He stated that the PDP was “sinking under the weight of its own contradictions” and “haemorrhaging credibility, membership, and moral authority nationwide,” adding that elections are not won by propaganda but by performance.

John asserted that the APC-led administration has repositioned Nigeria on the path of progress through economic reforms, infrastructural renewal, and youth empowerment under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

“Governor Mohammed should be reminded that Nigerians do not suffer collective amnesia. The PDP’s 16 years in power left behind a trail of corruption, infrastructural decay, and economic stagnation — conditions which the APC administration has spent years addressing through reforms and fiscal discipline,” he said.

He further argued that Nigerians can now see “the difference between propaganda and performance,” insisting that the APC government has made measurable progress across sectors, including digital innovation, social investment, and security stabilisation.

“If Governor Bala Mohammed believes that the same PDP — riddled with factional crises, leadership disputes, and dwindling public trust — can make a comeback in 2027, then he is clearly mistaking nostalgia for strategy. A party that cannot govern itself cannot aspire to govern a nation,” the APCMN Director-General added.

John urged Governor Mohammed to focus on governance in Bauchi State rather than making “empty declarations” about 2027, stressing that “Governance, not grandstanding, is what Nigerians demand.”

“2027 is not for those who speak loudly; it is for those who deliver boldly. And on that score, the APC stands far ahead,” he concluded.

The PDP has in recent months been hit by internal crises, leadership disputes, and a string of defections involving governors, lawmakers, and key stakeholders, particularly from the northern region, though Bala Mohammed maintains that the party remains strong and capable of reclaiming power at the centre.
