The All Progressives Congress has formally presented its membership card to the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, officially welcoming him into the ruling party’s fold.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 14, at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, where members of the National Working Committee presented the card to Mbah following his public declaration to leave the Peoples Democratic Party.
The APC confirmed the development in a statement posted on its official X handle, saying, “The APC National Working Committee (NWC) has formally presented the Party’s membership card to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah @PNMbah, officially marking his entry into the APC.”
Earlier that day, Mbah had announced his defection during a state broadcast titled “Charting a New Course: Transition from PDP to APC.”

The governor explained that his move was the outcome of months of consultation and was aimed at aligning Enugu with the federal government’s development agenda.
“This is not about personal ambition. It is about ensuring that Enugu’s development is fully aligned with the policies and programmes of the Federal Government under President Tinubu. We are taking this step for the greater good of our people,” Mbah said.
He praised President Bola Tinubu as “a partner in purpose and a leader with the courage to make tough choices for the country’s progress,” adding that the defection was “a conscious step towards a more compelling future for Enugu.”
Accompanied by top political leaders from Enugu, including his predecessor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Mbah reaffirmed his commitment to complete all ongoing projects in the state while strengthening ties with the APC-led federal government.
