Amnesty International has strongly condemned the early morning assault on worshippers at a mosque in Na’alma village, located in Malumfashi Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The human rights organization labeled the attack as horrific and called on authorities to take tangible steps to safeguard citizens.
In a post on its X handle, Amnesty reported that the incident occurred during dawn prayers. The total number of fatalities remains unknown.
Several residents who attempted to flee are still missing, while others with serious injuries are being treated in hospitals.
The group highlighted that the attack took place less than two months after over 50 people were killed in a similar assault on a mosque in Unguwan Mantau, also in Malumfashi.

Amnesty criticized both federal and state governments for issuing repeated statements of condemnation without implementing concrete measures to guarantee safety and justice.
It warned that ongoing failure to prosecute those responsible only encourages impunity and leaves rural communities living in constant fear of future attacks.
The group stated: “Consistent failure of the Nigerian authorities to bring the actual suspected perpetrators to justice is emboldening impunity and left rural communities constantly bracing up for the next attack.”
