FCT Minister Vows to ‘Step on Toes,’ Ready to Lose Job Over Integrity

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said that if doing the right thing would cost him his job, he would not mind.

Wike delivered this bold declaration on Thursday, the 13th of November, 2025, at a media briefing shortly after the FCT Executive Committee meeting.

His statement follows recent reported friction between the FCT Administration and security forces.

Recent news reports that the Minister and some officials of the FCT Authority on Tuesday, the 11th of November, clashed with soldiers in Abuja over access to a land. This confrontation provides a backdrop to the Minister’s resolute comments on accountability and the execution of his duties.

Minister’s Stance on Performance and Conscience

Addressing the media, Wike made it clear that his focus remains on fulfilling his mandate, regardless of the political cost.

“Did I perform? Yes, I did. Will history remember me? Yes. I will continue to step on toes too,” he said.

The Minister’s remarks underscore his determination to proceed with his vision for the FCT, even if it entails confronting entrenched interests and risking his position.
