Samuel Akingboye, the eldest son of the deceased prominent businessman and former Ondo State governorship candidate, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, widely known as OBA, has leveled a serious accusation against the Lagos State police command for allegedly hiding his father’s autopsy result.
In a press statement shared on Thursday, the 13th of November, 2025, Samuel directly questioned the motive of the Lagos state Commissioner of police, Olohundare Jimoh.
He claims that the police have withheld the autopsy findings from him, who is the complainant, while simultaneously and secretly invit[ing] his stepmother without him being present.
He described this action by the Commissioner of Police as “an attempt to dilute, or divert the investigation”. He further asserted that the initial investigation, based on evidence, suggests foul play: “I maintain that the CCTV footage and post mortem findings reportedly point to violent circumstances surrounding my father’s death suggesting an obvious case of murder. If there is nothing to conceal, I call for these to be released immediately and transparently.”
Samuel detailed the alleged preferential treatment: “The Commissioner of Police refused to communicate the findings of the autopsy to me as the complainant till date, and When I was eventually invited, I discovered that the opposing side had already been engaged. They had reportedly visited the CP office on Tuesday, while I was invited on Friday.”
He expressed his confusion and suspicion regarding this procedure: “The rationale behind this approach remains a mystery, in that, I had the impression that both parties should be on seat to get briefing from the CP on the result and other findings.”
In addition to the police accusations, Samuel stated that his stepmother and her children have allegedly started selling their father’s properties amid the ongoing police investigation. He highlighted the urgency of the matter, noting that his father “is still in the morgue” while “actions have reportedly commenced by parties of interest (my stepmother and her children) to access, alter, or transfer assets, property documents, and business holdings belonging to my late father, even while the investigation is yet to be concluded…”

Furthermore, Samuel reported a significant threat to his personal safety while pursuing justice for his father: “I have received indirect and direct death threats from my stepmother, her younger brother and her children owing to my pursuit of truth over my father’s death.”
He pleaded for public assistance and protection, emphasizing the emotional and financial strain:
“I am making a public appeal for support, protection, and intervention from Nigerians, institutions, and human rights defenders. This process has taken an enormous emotional, financial, and psychological toll, intensified by what appears to be unequal access to resources and influence. They are fighting this investigation with the resources stolen from my father’s account.”
Samuel Akingboye is now appealing to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Egbetokun, Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the general public to intervene in the matter and ensure a transparent investigation.
